اللَّهُal-lahu
Allah -
لَاlā
(there is) no
إِلَهَilāha
God
إِلَّاillā
except
هُوَhuwa
Him,
الْحَيُّl-ḥayu
the Ever-Living
الْقَيُّومُl-qayūmu
the Sustainer of all that exists.
God: there is no god but Him, the Ever Living, the Ever Watchful.

نَزَّلَnazzala
He revealed
عَلَيْكَʿalayka
to you
الْكِتَابَl-kitāba
the Book
بِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqi
in [the] truth
مُصَدِّقًاmuṣaddiqan
confirming
لِمَاlimā
that which
بَيْنَbayna
(was) before it,
يَدَيْهِyadayhi
(was) before it,
وَأَنْزَلَwa-anzala
and He revealed
التَّوْرَاةَl-tawrāta
the Taurat
وَالْإِنْجِيلَwal-injīla
and the Injeel,
Step by step, He has sent the Scripture down to you [Prophet] with the Truth, confirming what went before: He sent down the Torah and the Gospel

مِنْmin
Before (this),
قَبْلُqablu
Before (this),
هُدًىhudan
(as) guidance
لِلنَّاسِlilnnāsi
for the mankind.
وَأَنْزَلَwa-anzala
And (He) revealed
الْفُرْقَانَl-fur'qāna
the Criterion.
إِنَّinna
Verily,
الَّذِينَalladhīna
those who
كَفَرُواkafarū
disbelieve[d]
بِءَايَاتِbiāyāti
in (the) Verses of Allah,
اللَّهِl-lahi
in (the) Verses of Allah,
لَهُمْlahum
for them
عَذَابٌʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
شَدِيدٌshadīdun
severe.
وَاللَّهُwal-lahu
And Allah
عَزِيزٌʿazīzun
(is) All-Mighty,
ذُوdhū
All-Able of retribution.
انْتِقَامٍintiqāmin
All-Able of retribution.
earlier as a guide for people and He has sent down the distinction [between right and wrong]. Those who deny God’s revelations will suffer severe torment: God is almighty and capable of retribution.

Indeed
اللَّهَl-laha
Allah -
لَاlā
not
يَخْفَىyakhfā
is hidden
عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
from Him
شَيْءٌshayon
anything
فِيfī
in
الْأَرْضِl-arḍi
the earth
وَلَاwalā
and not
فِيfī
in
السَّمَاءِl-samāi
the heaven.
Nothing on earth or in heaven is hidden from God:

هُوَhuwa
He
الَّذِيalladhī
(is) the One Who
يُصَوِّرُكُمْyuṣawwirukum
shapes you
فِيfī
in
الْأَرْحَامِl-arḥāmi
the wombs
كَيْفَkayfa
how(ever)
يَشَاءُyashāu
He wills.
لَاlā
(There is) no
إِلَهَilāha
god
إِلَّاillā
except
هُوَhuwa
Him,
الْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu
the All-Mighty,
الْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmu
the All-Wise.
it is He who shapes you all in the womb as He pleases. There is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Wise:

الَّذِيalladhī
(is) the One Who
أَنْزَلَanzala
revealed
عَلَيْكَʿalayka
to you
الْكِتَابَl-kitāba
the Book,
مِنْهُmin'hu
of it
ءَايَاتٌāyātun
(are) Verses
مُحْكَمَاتٌmuḥ'kamātun
absolutely clear -
هُنَّhunna
they (are)
أُمُّummu
the foundation
الْكِتَابِl-kitābi
(of) the Book,
وَأُخَرُwa-ukharu
and others
مُتَشَابِهَاتٌmutashābihātun
(are) allegorical.
فَأَمَّاfa-ammā
Then as for
الَّذِينَalladhīna
those
فِيfī
in
قُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihim
their hearts
زَيْغٌzayghun
(is) perversity -
فَيَتَّبِعُونَfayattabiʿūna
[so] they follow
مَاmā
what
تَشَابَهَtashābaha
(is) allegorical
مِنْهُmin'hu
of it,
ابْتِغَاءَib'tighāa
seeking
الْفِتْنَةِl-fit'nati
[the] discord
وَابْتِغَاءَwa-ib'tighāa
and seeking
تَأْوِيلِهِtawīlihi
its interpretation.
وَمَاwamā
And not
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamu
knows
تَأْوِيلَهُtawīlahu
its interpretation
إِلَّاillā
except
اللَّهُl-lahu
Allah.
وَالرَّاسِخُونَwal-rāsikhūna
And those firm
فِيfī
in
الْعِلْمِl-ʿil'mi
[the] knowledge,
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūna
they say,
ءَامَنَّاāmannā
"We believe
بِهِbihi
in it.
كُلٌّkullun
All
مِنْmin
(is) from
عِنْدِʿindi
(is) from
رَبِّنَاrabbinā
our Lord."
وَمَاwamā
And not
يَذَّكَّرُyadhakkaru
will take heed
إِلَّاillā
except
أُولُواulū
men of understanding.
الْأَلْبَابِl-albābi
men of understanding.
it is He who has sent this Scripture down to you [Prophet]. Some of its verses are definite in meaning- these are the cornerstone of the Scripture- and others are ambiguous. The perverse at heart eagerly pursue the ambiguities in their attempt to make trouble and to pin down a specific meaning of their own: only God knows the true meaning. Those firmly grounded in knowledge say, ‘We believe in it: it is all from our Lord’- only those with real perception will take heed-

رَبَّنَاrabbanā
"Our Lord!
لَاlā
(Do) not
تُزِغْtuzigh
deviate
قُلُوبَنَاqulūbanā
our hearts
بَعْدَbaʿda
after
إِذْidh
[when]
هَدَيْتَنَاhadaytanā
You (have) guided us,
وَهَبْwahab
and grant
لَنَاlanā
(for) us
مِنْmin
from
لَدُنْكَladunka
Yourself
رَحْمَةًraḥmatan
mercy.
إِنَّكَinnaka
Indeed You,
أَنْتَanta
You
الْوَهَّابُl-wahābu
(are) the Bestower.
‘Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us. Grant us Your mercy: You are the Ever Giving.

رَبَّنَاrabbanā
Our Lord!
إِنَّكَinnaka
Indeed, You
جَامِعُjāmiʿu
will gather
النَّاسِl-nāsi
[the] mankind
لِيَوْمٍliyawmin
on a Day,
لَاlā
(there is) no
رَيْبَrayba
doubt
فِيهِfīhi
in it.
إِنَّinna
Indeed,
اللَّهَl-laha
Allah
لَاlā
(does) not
يُخْلِفُyukh'lifu
break
الْمِيعَادَl-mīʿāda
the Promise."
Our Lord, You will gather all people on the Day of which there is no doubt: God never breaks His promise.’

إِنَّinna
Indeed,
الَّذِينَalladhīna
those who
كَفَرُواkafarū
disbelieve[d]
لَنْlan
never
تُغْنِيَtugh'niya
will avail
عَنْهُمْʿanhum
[for] them
أَمْوَالُهُمْamwāluhum
their wealth
وَلَاwalā
and not
أَوْلَادُهُمْawlāduhum
their children
مِنَmina
against
اللَّهِl-lahi
Allah
شَيْئًاshayan
anything,
وَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāika
and those -
هُمْhum
they (are)
وَقُودُwaqūdu
(the) fuel
النَّارِl-nāri
(for) the Fire.
Neither their possessions nor their children will be any use to the disbelievers against God. The disbelievers will be fuel for the Fire,
