Surah Memorizer Beta

Ash-Shura

1

حمhha-meem
Ha Meem.
Ha Mim

2

عسقain-seen-qaf
Ayn Seen Qaaf.
Ayn Sin Qaf

3

كَذَلِكَkadhālika
Thus
يُوحِيyūḥī
reveals
إِلَيْكَilayka
to you,
وَإِلَىwa-ilā
and to
الَّذِينَalladhīna
those
مِنْmin
before you -
قَبْلِكَqablika
before you -
اللَّهُl-lahu
Allah
الْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu
the All-Mighty,
الْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmu
the All-Wise.
This is how God, the Mighty, the Wise, sends revelation to you [Prophet] as He did to those before you.

4

لَهُlahu
To Him
مَا
(belong) whatever
فِي
(is) in
السَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti
the heavens
وَمَاwamā
and whatever
فِي
(is) in
الْأَرْضِl-arḍi
the earth,
وَهُوَwahuwa
and He
الْعَلِيُّl-ʿaliyu
(is) the Most High,
الْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmu
the Most Great.
All that is in the heavens and earth belongs to Him: He is the Exalted, the Almighty.

5

تَكَادُtakādu
Almost
السَّمَاوَاتُl-samāwātu
the heavens
يَتَفَطَّرْنَyatafaṭṭarna
break up
مِنْmin
from
فَوْقِهِنَّfawqihinna
above them,
وَالْمَلَائِكَةُwal-malāikatu
and the Angels
يُسَبِّحُونَyusabbiḥūna
glorify
بِحَمْدِbiḥamdi
(the) praise
رَبِّهِمْrabbihim
(of) their Lord
وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَwayastaghfirūna
and ask for forgiveness
لِمَنْliman
for those
فِي
on
الْأَرْضِl-arḍi
the earth.
أَلَاalā
Unquestionably,
إِنَّinna
indeed,
اللَّهَl-laha
Allah,
هُوَhuwa
He
الْغَفُورُl-ghafūru
(is) the Oft-Forgiving,
الرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmu
the Most Merciful.
The heavens are almost broken apart from above as the angels proclaim the praises of their Lord and ask forgiveness for those on earth. God is indeed the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

6

وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīna
And those who
اتَّخَذُواittakhadhū
take
مِنْmin
besides
دُونِهِdūnihi
besides
أَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa
protectors,
اللَّهُl-lahu
Allah
حَفِيظٌḥafīẓun
(is) a Guardian
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim
over them,
وَمَاwamā
and not
أَنْتَanta
you
عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim
(are) over them
بِوَكِيلٍbiwakīlin
a manager.
As for those who take protectors other than Him, God is watching them; you are not responsible for them.

7

وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālika
And thus
أَوْحَيْنَاawḥaynā
We have revealed
إِلَيْكَilayka
to you
قُرْءَانًاqur'ānan
a Quran
عَرَبِيًّاʿarabiyyan
(in) Arabic,
لِتُنْذِرَlitundhira
that you may warn
أُمَّumma
(the) mother
الْقُرَىl-qurā
(of) the towns,
وَمَنْwaman
and whoever
حَوْلَهَاḥawlahā
(is) around it,
وَتُنْذِرَwatundhira
and warn
يَوْمَyawma
(of the) Day
الْجَمْعِl-jamʿi
(of) Assembly,
لَا
(there is) no
رَيْبَrayba
doubt
فِيهِfīhi
in it.
فَرِيقٌfarīqun
A party
فِي
(will be) in
الْجَنَّةِl-janati
Paradise
وَفَرِيقٌwafarīqun
and a party
فِي
in
السَّعِيرِl-saʿīri
the Blazing Fire.
So We have revealed an Arabic Quran to you, in order that you may warn the capital city and all who live nearby. And warn [especially] about the Day of Gathering, of which there is no doubt, when some shall be in the Garden and some in the blazing Flame.

8

وَلَوْwalaw
And if
شَاءَshāa
Allah willed,
اللَّهُl-lahu
Allah willed,
لَجَعَلَهُمْlajaʿalahum
He could have made them
أُمَّةًummatan
a community
وَاحِدَةًwāḥidatan
one,
وَلَكِنْwalākin
but
يُدْخِلُyud'khilu
He admits
مَنْman
whom
يَشَاءُyashāu
He wills
فِي
in (to)
رَحْمَتِهِraḥmatihi
His Mercy.
وَالظَّالِمُونَwal-ẓālimūna
And the wrongdoers,
مَا
not
لَهُمْlahum
for them
مِنْmin
any
وَلِيٍّwaliyyin
protector
وَلَاwalā
and not
نَصِيرٍnaṣīrin
any helper.
If God had so pleased, He could have made them a single community, but He admits to His mercy whoever He will; the evildoers will have no one to protect or help them.

9

أَمِami
Or
اتَّخَذُواittakhadhū
have they taken
مِنْmin
besides Him
دُونِهِdūnihi
besides Him
أَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa
protectors?
فَاللَّهُfal-lahu
But Allah -
هُوَhuwa
He
الْوَلِيُّl-waliyu
(is) the Protector,
وَهُوَwahuwa
and He
يُحْيِيyuḥ'yī
gives life
الْمَوْتَىl-mawtā
(to) the dead.
وَهُوَwahuwa
And He
عَلَىʿalā
(is) on
كُلِّkulli
every
شَيْءٍshayin
thing
قَدِيرٌqadīrun
All-Powerful.
How can they take protectors other than Him? God alone is the Protector; He gives life to the dead; He has power over all things.

10

وَمَاwamā
And whatever
اخْتَلَفْتُمْikh'talaftum
you differ
فِيهِfīhi
in it
مِنْmin
of
شَيْءٍshayin
a thing,
فَحُكْمُهُfaḥuk'muhu
then its ruling
إِلَىilā
(is) to
اللَّهِl-lahi
Allah.
ذَلِكُمُdhālikumu
That
اللَّهُl-lahu
(is) Allah,
رَبِّيrabbī
my Lord,
عَلَيْهِʿalayhi
upon Him
تَوَكَّلْتُtawakkaltu
I put my trust
وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhi
and to Him
أُنِيبُunību
I turn.
Whatever you may differ about is for God to judge. [Say], ‘Such is God, my Lord. In Him I trust and to Him I turn,
