Qaf.
وَالْقُرْءَانِwal-qur'āni
By the Quran,
الْمَجِيدِl-majīdi
the Glorious.
Qaf By the glorious Quran!
2
بَلْbal
Nay,
عَجِبُواʿajibū
they wonder
أَنْan
that
جَاءَهُمْjāahum
has come to them
مُنْذِرٌmundhirun
a warner
مِنْهُمْmin'hum
from them.
فَقَالَfaqāla
So say
الْكَافِرُونَl-kāfirūna
the disbelievers,
هَذَاhādhā
"This
شَيْءٌshayon
(is) a thing
عَجِيبٌʿajībun
amazing.
But the disbelievers are amazed that a warner has come from among them and they say, ‘How strange!

أَءِذَاa-idhā
What! When
مِتْنَاmit'nā
we die
وَكُنَّاwakunnā
and have become
تُرَابًاturāban
dust.
ذَلِكَdhālika
That
رَجْعٌrajʿun
(is) a return
بَعِيدٌbaʿīdun
far."
To come back [to life] after we have died and become dust? That is too farfetched.’

قَدْqad
Certainly,
عَلِمْنَاʿalim'nā
We know
مَاmā
what
تَنْقُصُtanquṣu
diminishes
الْأَرْضُl-arḍu
the earth
مِنْهُمْmin'hum
of them,
وَعِنْدَنَاwaʿindanā
and with Us
كِتَابٌkitābun
(is) a Book
حَفِيظٌḥafīẓun
guarded.
We know very well what the earth takes away from them: We keep a comprehensive record.

بَلْbal
Nay,
كَذَّبُواkadhabū
they denied
بِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqi
the truth
لَمَّاlammā
when
جَاءَهُمْjāahum
it came (to) them,
فَهُمْfahum
so they
فِيfī
(are) in
أَمْرٍamrin
a state
مَرِيجٍmarījin
confused.
But the disbelievers deny the truth when it comes to them; they are in a state of confusion.

أَفَلَمْafalam
Then do not
يَنْظُرُواyanẓurū
they look
إِلَىilā
at
السَّمَاءِl-samāi
the sky
فَوْقَهُمْfawqahum
above them -
كَيْفَkayfa
how
بَنَيْنَاهَاbanaynāhā
We structured it
وَزَيَّنَّاهَاwazayyannāhā
and adorned it
وَمَاwamā
and not
لَهَاlahā
for it
مِنْmin
any
فُرُوجٍfurūjin
rifts?
Do they not see the sky above them––how We have built and adorned it, with no rifts in it;
7
وَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍa
And the earth,
مَدَدْنَاهَاmadadnāhā
We have spread it out
وَأَلْقَيْنَاwa-alqaynā
and cast
فِيهَاfīhā
therein
رَوَاسِيَrawāsiya
firmly set mountains
وَأَنْبَتْنَاwa-anbatnā
and We made to grow
فِيهَاfīhā
therein
مِنْmin
of
كُلِّkulli
every
زَوْجٍzawjin
kind
بَهِيجٍbahījin
beautiful,
how We spread out the earth and put solid mountains on it, and caused every kind of joyous plant to grow in it,
8
تَبْصِرَةًtabṣiratan
Giving insight
وَذِكْرَىwadhik'rā
and a reminder
لِكُلِّlikulli
for every
عَبْدٍʿabdin
slave
مُنِيبٍmunībin
who turns.
as a lesson and reminder for every servant who turns to God;
9
وَنَزَّلْنَاwanazzalnā
And We have sent down
مِنَmina
from
السَّمَاءِl-samāi
the sky
مَاءًmāan
water
مُبَارَكًاmubārakan
blessed,
فَأَنْبَتْنَاfa-anbatnā
then
بِهِbihi
thereby
جَنَّاتٍjannātin
gardens
وَحَبَّwaḥabba
and grain
الْحَصِيدِl-ḥaṣīdi
(for) the harvest,
and how We send blessed water down from the sky and grow with it gardens, the harvest grain,
10
وَالنَّخْلَwal-nakhla
And the palms trees
بَاسِقَاتٍbāsiqātin
tall -
لَهَاlahā
for it
طَلْعٌṭalʿun
(are) layers
نَضِيدٌnaḍīdun
arranged.
and tall palm trees laden with clusters of dates,
