Al-Mutaffifin
1
وَيْلٌwaylun
Woe
لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَlil'muṭaffifīna
to those who give less,
Woe to those who give short measure,
2
الَّذِينَalladhīna
Those who
إِذَاidhā
when
اكْتَالُواik'tālū
they take a measure
عَلَىʿalā
from
النَّاسِl-nāsi
the people,
يَسْتَوْفُونَyastawfūna
they take in full,
who demand of other people full measure for themselves,
3
وَإِذَاwa-idhā
But when
كَالُوهُمْkālūhum
they give by measure (to) them
أَوْaw
or
وَزَنُوهُمْwazanūhum
they weigh (for) them
يُخْسِرُونَyukh'sirūna
they give less.
but give less than they should when it is they who weigh or measure for others!

أَلَاalā
Do not
يَظُنُّyaẓunnu
think
أُولَئِكَulāika
those
أَنَّهُمْannahum
that they
مَبْعُوثُونَmabʿūthūna
(will be) resurrected,
Do these people not realize that they will be raised up
5
لِيَوْمٍliyawmin
For a Day
عَظِيمٍʿaẓīmin
Great,
on a mighty Day,
6
يَوْمَyawma
(The) Day
يَقُومُyaqūmu
will stand
النَّاسُl-nāsu
mankind
لِرَبِّlirabbi
before (the) Lord
الْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna
(of) the worlds?
a Day when everyone will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?

كَلَّاkallā
Nay!
إِنَّinna
Indeed,
كِتَابَkitāba
(the) record
الْفُجَّارِl-fujāri
(of) the wicked
لَفِيlafī
(is) surely in
سِجِّينٍsijjīnin
Sijjin.
No indeed! The list of the wicked is in Sijjin––

وَمَاwamā
And what
أَدْرَاكَadrāka
can make you know
مَاmā
what
سِجِّينٌsijjīnun
(is) Sijjin?
what will explain to you what Sijjin is?––

كِتَابٌkitābun
A book
مَرْقُومٌmarqūmun
written.
a clearly numbered list.

وَيْلٌwaylun
Woe
يَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin
that Day
لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَlil'mukadhibīna
to the deniers,
Woe on that day to the deniers,
