Al-Inshiqaq
1
إِذَاidhā
When
السَّمَاءُl-samāu
the sky
انْشَقَّتْinshaqqat
is split asunder,
When the sky is ripped apart,
2
وَأَذِنَتْwa-adhinat
And has listened
لِرَبِّهَاlirabbihā
to its Lord
وَحُقَّتْwaḥuqqat
and was obligated,
obeying its Lord as it rightly must,
3
وَإِذَاwa-idhā
And when
الْأَرْضُl-arḍu
the earth
مُدَّتْmuddat
is spread,
when the earth is levelled out,
4
وَأَلْقَتْwa-alqat
And has cast out
مَاmā
what
فِيهَاfīhā
(is) in it
وَتَخَلَّتْwatakhallat
and becomes empty,
casts out its contents, and becomes empty,
5
وَأَذِنَتْwa-adhinat
And has listened
لِرَبِّهَاlirabbihā
to its Lord
وَحُقَّتْwaḥuqqat
and was obligated.
obeying its Lord as it rightly must,
6
يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhā
O
الْإِنْسَانُl-insānu
mankind!
إِنَّكَinnaka
Indeed, you
كَادِحٌkādiḥun
(are) laboring
إِلَىilā
to
رَبِّكَrabbika
your Lord
كَدْحًاkadḥan
(with) exertion
فَمُلَاقِيهِfamulāqīhi
and you (will) meet Him.
you humans, toiling laboriously towards your Lord, will meet Him:

فَأَمَّاfa-ammā
Then as for
مَنْman
(him) who
أُوتِيَūtiya
is given
كِتَابَهُkitābahu
his record
بِيَمِينِهِbiyamīnihi
in his right (hand),
whoever is given his record in his right hand
8
فَسَوْفَfasawfa
Then soon
يُحَاسَبُyuḥāsabu
his account will be taken
حِسَابًاḥisāban
an account,
يَسِيرًاyasīran
easy,
will have an easy reckoning
9
وَيَنْقَلِبُwayanqalibu
And he will return
إِلَىilā
to
أَهْلِهِahlihi
his people
مَسْرُورًاmasrūran
happily.
and return to his people well pleased,
10
وَأَمَّاwa-ammā
But as for
مَنْman
(him) who
أُوتِيَūtiya
is given
كِتَابَهُkitābahu
his record
وَرَاءَwarāa
behind
ظَهْرِهِẓahrihi
his back,
but whoever is given his record from behind his back
