Az-Zalzalah

1

إِذَاidhā
When
زُلْزِلَتِzul'zilati
is shaken
الْأَرْضُl-arḍu
the earth
زِلْزَالَهَاzil'zālahā
(with) its earthquake,
When the earth is shaken violently in its [last] quaking,

2

وَأَخْرَجَتِwa-akhrajati
And brings forth
الْأَرْضُl-arḍu
the earth
أَثْقَالَهَاathqālahā
its burdens,
when the earth throws out its burdens,

3

وَقَالَwaqāla
And says
الْإِنْسَانُl-insānu
man,
مَاmā
"What
لَهَاlahā
(is) with it?"
when man cries, ‘What is happening to it?’;

4

يَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin
That Day,
تُحَدِّثُtuḥaddithu
it will report
أَخْبَارَهَاakhbārahā
its news,
on that Day, it will tell all

بِأَنَّbi-anna
Because
رَبَّكَrabbaka
your Lord
أَوْحَىawḥā
inspired
لَهَاlahā
[to] it.
because your Lord will inspire it [to do so].

6

يَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin
That Day
يَصْدُرُyaṣduru
will proceed
النَّاسُl-nāsu
the mankind
أَشْتَاتًاashtātan
(in) scattered groups
لِيُرَوْاliyuraw
to be shown
أَعْمَالَهُمْaʿmālahum
their deeds.
On that Day, people will come forward in separate groups to be shown their deeds:

فَمَنْfaman
So whoever
يَعْمَلْyaʿmal
does
مِثْقَالَmith'qāla
(equal to the) weight
ذَرَّةٍdharratin
(of) an atom
خَيْرًاkhayran
good,
يَرَهُyarahu
will see it,
whoever has done an atom’s-weight of good will see it,

وَمَنْwaman
And whoever
يَعْمَلْyaʿmal
does
مِثْقَالَmith'qāla
(equal to the) weight
ذَرَّةٍdharratin
(of) an atom
شَرًّاsharran
evil,
يَرَهُyarahu
will see it.
but whoever has done an atom’s-weight of evil will see that.
